Start: Wednesday 31st May 2023
End: Wednesday 7th June 2023
Synopsis: We had decided that at the present time, it was easier for Nathan to travel from England to visit Yen in Belgium. We had planned that the best time for this to happen was the 31st of May 2023 to the 7th of June 2023, as this worked best around other commitments such as work and school. On the 24th February 2023 we had finally decided on the best place to stay, Agréable Tiny House, and we booked it right away. Following this Nathan booked his tickets for the Euro Tunnel. Then the countdown began, with only 128 days to wait. This felt like an eternity. When we met we hit it off even more than we did online over discord. It was a brilliant experience getting to know each other more in-depth than we had been able to do online. When we separated and Nathan went back to England, it felt like a part of us was missing. From this point, we decided to plan our next trip which would be Yen coming to England.
Wednesday 31st: We spent time getting to know each other in person, a lot of talking, and of course a cheeky McDonalds trip. With lots of unpacking and exploring the house we were staying in.
Thursday 1st: We went to the local French bakery for breakfast. Then we went shopping together to get essentials like food & water, as well as going to meet Yen's Mum. When we got back we spent time cooking together and more talking.
Friday 2nd: We visited Yen's mum again and met her partner, then they gave us the idea to visit Brussels and see the Atomium and explore a little where we ate at a little Italian restaurant together.
Saturday 3rd: Once again we went shopping as we wanted to have salmon for dinner as well as realising we needed more bread as well as cereal for breakfast. Then we went to visit Yen's Dad and pick up a package.
Sunday 4th: Today we wanted to explore Gent a little and also visit Lunar, one of Yen's friends and someone Nathan has met online. We spent the day shopping, exploring parks and visiting graffitistraatje.
Monday 5th: Today Nathan's Car decided it was having issues so we first went to Yen's Dad's House to borrow some tools to fix the issue, then we went to go and pick up some tools from the hardware shop. Just in case anything else was to happen. Then we went to the local fair where we played some games and had lots of fun. Then we went to visit Yen's Sisters at her mother's house.
Tuesday 6th: Yen had work commitments today so Nathan spent the first half of the day packing things we didn't need and tidying up so we could have an extended sleep and make the most of Wednesday without having to rush about. Today when Yen was at work Nathan also thought it was a good idea to start learning Dutch (Flemish) so that he could understand Yen's family better.
Wednesday 7th: Today we had to say goodbye to each other, we packed the last few of our things and then, went to meet up with Yen's mum at the Donk in Oudenaarde. Where we had a couple of drinks and some pasta. Then we said goodbye and Nathan headed back to England.
